Summer Term is committed to helping you stay healthy and fit as you engage in your summer studies at BU. As a student at Boston University, you have access to extensive health and wellness services staffed by highly qualified healthcare professionals, as well as opportunities for world-class recreation at our FitRec Center. We hope you have a happy and healthy time while studying with us this summer.
Student Health Services
Boston University Student Health Services, located at 881 Commonwealth Avenue is available for urgent care issues by appointment Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (opens 10 am on Thursdays). Visiting summer students are charged a fee of $25 for each visit, payable by cash, check, credit card, or charged to your student account. If you receive blood work or immunizations you will need to provide your insurance information or have charges billed to your student account.
If you have a non-urgent issue that requires routine care, Student Health will work with you to provide a referral based on your insurance.
In the case of an emergency, call 617-353-2121 on-campus to reach the Boston University Police or 911 off-campus. If you need medical advice on weekdays after closing hours or weekends, you can call 617-353-3575 to reach a nurse for advice or you may go to the closest urgent care center or emergency department.
Behavioral Medicine (Mental Health)
Behavioral Medicine staff, psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical nurse specialists, licensed mental health clinicians, and licensed clinical social workers are available to address the many psychological and adjustment issues that arise in a university community. When longer-term care is needed, we will facilitate referral to expert clinicians in the local community. Appointments are available by calling 617-353-3569. Regular hours are Monday-Friday 9 am 4:30 pm. Behavioral Medicine clinicians are also available 24 hours a day on-call for mental health emergencies. Student Health Insurance
Massachusetts law requires that all full time students and all international students have medical insurance. Boston University offers a Student Health Insurance Plan (Aetna Student Health) that covers most typical health problems that students encounter while at college. To sign up for the Boston University Student Health Insurance Plan, contact Student Accounting Services at 617-353-2870 or email email@example.com.

Fitness and Recreation Center
Boston University's Fitness & Recreation Center is the place to go for a wide range of summer recreation courses, including outdoor activities such as sailing and rowing, wellness classes such as yoga and fitness, and much more. With approximately 270,000 square feet of space, FitRec offers an 18,000-square-foot weight and cardio room, two separate swimming pools, two multi-use gymnasiums with seven courts, an elevated 1/7 mile jogging track overlooking several activity areas, racquetball and squash courts, and a 30' climbing wall. There is even a lazy river—a relaxing way to escape the heat on a summer afternoon. FitRec is located at 915 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA. BU students and those enrolled in summer programs at BU are eligible for FitRec membership. Stop by the FitRec front desk to find out about your membership options.
